Daring to Embrace a New Season: The Power of Letting Go

Well, I want to officially welcome you to autumn. Or welcome to fall for those that are not quite sure about autumn. We are approaching my favorite time of the year and I am so excited about the change of the season. As we are changing seasons, it really got me thinking about the various seasons in our lives. We are getting ready to end the third quarter of 2021. Literally, we have three months left in 2021 and the fourth quarter is critical. I want you to make every moment count and manifest your goals. In this piece, I share a few insights with you to help you embrace the next season of your life. My prayer for you is that this will be your greatest season yet!

  1. You have to prepare for a new season. As I stated earlier, we have just entered autumn here in the United States. It became apparent on Wednesday morning that the season has changed as I was awakened to cooler temperatures. This is normally the time of the year that we put away the shorts and t-shirts and we pull out our sweaters, turtle necks, and coats. In other words, you will never prosper in a season that you have not prepared for. I cannot tell you how many people I have talked to over the years that desire all these great things for their lives. However, when I start to discuss the preparation needed to see these desires realized. I notice that many people are not willing to do the work. Any season that you fail to prepare for will be repeated and will ultimately birth regret in your life. Preparation determines your prosperity and your promotion. Do not miss out on great opportunities because you failed to prepare. Preparation is both making space and developing the skills that will empower you for success in the next season.
  2. You must adjust your paradigm to embrace a new season. Even as I just discussed how the temperatures have started to change as we entered the fall, I want you to understand that every new season demands a new paradigm. So many people are failing in life because they are approaching new seasons with old paradigms. In other words, they are trying to bring old thinking into a new era. If you want to embrace a new season in your life, then it is absolutely critical that you adjust your paradigm. Your thought pattern shapes the trajectory of your life and ultimately defines your victory. Without the renewing of your mind, you will live your entire life on repeat and you will never realize your greatest potential. Your paradigm determines the patterns, pace, and possibilities of your life. One of the most expensive mistakes you can ever make is to neglect your mind. Many people appear to be successful on the outside but they are psychologically bound. Your life rises to the level of your dominant thoughts. So make sure that you are intentional and strategic about what you allow to live in your mind. Do not run the risk of stepping into a season that you have not stretched your mind to embrace.
  3. You must let go of the old. If you truly want to embrace a new season in your life, then you must be willing to let go of the old. Why is this so important? You cannot make room for the new without first letting go of the old. From over thirty years of doing the work, I know from personal experience that you will have to let go of old thoughts, old concepts, old ideas, old philosophies, inferior ideologies, toxic emotions, unhealthy relationships, etc. In fact, I discovered on this journey that living your greatest life begins with mastering the art of letting go. Anything that you refuse to release will restrict your life to cycles of frustration, failure, and defeat. More importantly, anything that you refuse to release has the power to rule your future. Anything that you cannot let go of will ultimately abort greatness in your life. Cycles of breakthrough will never be created in your life as long as you are comfortable in bondage. In other words, until your desire for progress outweighs your desire for pleasure you will remain in prison. Furthermore, anything that you refuse to let go of becomes the enemy to your growth, development, and advancement. Letting go is an art form and the only authentic route to freedom.
  4. You must dare to embrace the new. In order to embrace the new, you first have to be willing to let go of the old. Why? Your mind is real estate. Only one thought can dominate the real estate of the mind at a time. Therefore, competing thoughts will always stand in the way of transformation. Whatever takes up residence in the mind will rule the moments of your life. Additionally, whatever you allow to occupy mental real estate you make room for in your life. You should not allow anything to dominate your thinking that you do not want to see manifest in your life. The new represents all the possibilities of what your life can be. The new represents your future. However, in order to embrace what has been destined for your life, you must first release the dysfunction that has tried to define your life. Embracing the new will require you to overcome self-limiting beliefs, self-limiting perceptions, and self-imposed limitations. Embracing the new will require you to confront toxic thoughts, unhealthy emotions, and paralyzing psychological constructs. Your new life is going to cost you your old life. More importantly, a new season will demand a new you. Understand that your courage to contend for the new is what will empower you to create new cycles of victory in your life.
